Petra Fina and her group travel from the Stone Age year to capture the first Time Shifter, Getalong. They encounter prehistoric caveboy Flint Hammerhead and his father Rocky Hammerhead in human form. Petra uses a fossilizing gun to preserve them, burying their fossilized forms in lava. Years later, Sarah and Tony Goodman discover these fossils. Dr. Bernard Goodman, their uncle, defossilizes Flint and Getalong. However, the process leaves Rocky as a sentient stone slab with eyes. Unable to restore him to normal, Dr. Goodman converts Rocky into a high-tech stone axe. This tool proves useful when Petra Fina returns to claim Getalong, altering the course of events involving the captured Time Shifter and the transformed father.
