Chidori High School, a bottom-ranked all-boys public institution, stands adjacent to Kikyo Girls’ Academy, a prestigious all-girls private school, yet a significant divide separates them. Tsumugi Rintarou, a student at Chidori High, meets Waguri Kaoruko while assisting at his family’s cake shop. Kaoruko is observed consuming a large quantity of cakes during her visit. Upon noticing Rintarou, she abruptly departs the premises as if fleeing. Rintarou regrets potentially frightening her away. He is subsequently surprised when Kaoruko returns to visit him the following day, defying his expectations of her avoidance.
