Chidori High School, a bottom-ranked all-boys public school, and Kikyo Girls’ Academy, a prestigious and well-established all-girls private school. Though the two schools are located next to each other, the gap between them runs deep. Tsumugi Rintarou, a student at Chidori High, meets a girl named Waguri Kaoruko while helping out at his family’s cake shop. She’s there devouring a large number of cakes. But upon seeing Rintarou, Kaoruko quickly leaves the shop as if running away. Regretting that he may have scared her off, Rintarou is surprised when Kaoruko comes to visit him the next day.
