After Zenkichi’s motorcycle crash, Shinozaki accepts blame while Sakon suspects puppet hairdresser Ayano. He confronts her in the theater, where she explains her desire for revenge against the Tachibana family for the Suou family calamity, including her father’s suicide and her mother’s insanity. She reveals that after her brother died ten years ago, her hatred intensified. Saemon intervenes, presenting a letter from her brother to Sakon’s father that forgives the Tachibanas and urges Ayano to abandon revenge. Consequently, Sakon struggles to practice, but Shiho uses Ukon to lift his spirits, allowing him to deliver his first public performance.
