Ep. 1: Izumi's unluckiness meets Shikimori's protective skills during their second year of high school.

Izumi, a kind but extremely unlucky high school student, meets his girlfriend Shikimori on his first day of the second year. Shikimori possesses a near-supernatural ability to protect him from harm. They reunite with friends Shu Inuzuka, Kyo Nekozaki, and Yui Hachimitsu, discovering they share a class. Classmates warn Izumi that his bad luck might endanger Shikimori, but she overhears this. Later, at a bowling alley, Nekozaki and Hachimitsu advise Shikimori, a bowling expert, to play loosely to appear cuter. However, Izumi’s encouragement leads her to achieve a perfect game. On the walk home, Izumi feels inadequate for relying on her protection. As a large sign nearly crushes him, Shikimori deflects it and asks him to stay by her side.
