Multiple TMF/A-802 BuCUE units launch an assault on the Archangel. Kira quickly departs to engage the ZAFT forces, though he struggles due to his lack of familiarity with the desert terrain. His capacity to adapt to these conditions impresses ZAFT commander Andrew Waltfeld. As the Strike’s power nears depletion, a resistance group intervenes to assist him. This group successfully distracts the remaining BuCUE units by leading them into a prepared explosive trap, thereby saving Kira from imminent defeat.
