Rohan narrates a story to Koichi about his time in Venice, where he witnessed a man confess inside a confessional. The man described how he caused a starving beggar’s death by forcing him to carry heavy corn bags, prompting a curse that the spirit would strike on the man’s happiest day. After achieving wealth and family, the beggar’s spirit possessed the man’s daughter. To save himself, the man had to throw popcorn above a lamp-post and catch it in his mouth three times. He succeeded twice despite pigeon interference but failed the third attempt, resulting in his decapitation. The beggar and the man’s servant then vowed to pursue the man until his daughter reached peak happiness to exact their revenge.
