Araragi visits North Shirahebi Shrine to train with Yozuru Kagenui, aiming to improve his combat skills without turning into a vampire. He asks her about Yotsugi, but she refuses to answer unless he hits her in battle. Recognizing the difficulty, Araragi returns home to consult his younger sister, Araragi Karen. Following her advice, he asks Shinobu to create a gun so he can bypass Kagenui's condition. The next day, he returns to the shrine only to find Kagenui missing.
