The emergence of the Corpse beyond the Lightless Realm instills widespread fear within the academy. As staff accelerate development of the next Reaper prototype for combat, they initiate a pilot selection process during which Natsuiri devises a specific strategy. Meanwhile, Akashi travels to the ruins of a town at Kasane's behest, only to encounter Heito. Heito's animosity toward Akashi becomes evident due to the situation surrounding Emiru, resulting in relentless provocation and taunting directed at Akashi by his adversary.
