Ep. 21: Kuriko Returns Ashes to Kazuki Before Midnight Party

Kuriko attempts to return Kazuki's ashes to him but fails repeatedly. Her sister announces a move to New York after a family Cinderella Party ending at midnight. Kuriko brings Kazuki as her date, hoping to complete the ritual. While hesitating on the stairs, she loses a shoe running to the balcony. She confesses her love, stating this is their final meeting, and they nearly kiss. At that moment, the ashes transfer into Kazuki, bringing him closer to humanity. The following day, Kuriko has cancelled her trip to New York and remains with Kazuki.
