Chise and Merituuli ride a dragon to meet Lindel, who crafts a mage's staff for Chise. Merituuli becomes frustrated by Chise's acceptance of her status as Elias's pet. In response, he recounts the story of finding Elias in the darkness. Meanwhile, Elias remains alone at home and receives a letter from a sorcerer's college.
