Ep. 8: Hayato and Akane face marriage pressure after forgotten birthdays and a kidnapping by Youko

Hayato discovers that everyone forgot Shiragiku’s birthday three weeks ago. With Akane’s assistance, he purchases a cute kitchen apron for her. During the outing, Akane suggests treating the experience like a date, which prompts Hayato to realize he has also forgotten that it is Akane’s birthday. Instead of receiving a gift, Akane proposes marriage. As Christmas nears, she persistently demands a response while Hayato refuses to answer. Men subsequently kidnap the couple to Akane’s family home under orders from her grandmother, Youko, a former Familia waitress. Youko, knowing of Akane’s desire to marry Hayato but frustrated by his indecision, attacks him with a sword. Later, Akane apologizes for her eccentric relatives. Hayato expresses concern that their union would erase either the Hououji or Kasukabe family name, stating he does not love her enough to make such a decision. Akane resolves to make him love her sufficiently to decide. Youko later meets her daughter and admits Hayato impressed her. Meanwhile, Ami and Ouka remain lost while searching for the kidnapped pair.
