A 13-year-old boy named Hikaru Kicker has been playing football since childhood, receiving his first ball as an infant from his father's friend. He travels to Italy to improve his skills and initially joins a strong team in Genova before leaving to play for the struggling team "Columbus" alongside his friend Anna. Despite numerous challenges, the team steadily improves and eventually defeats Margerita, a top team in the city. Hikaru learns about Genova's first soccer tournament, where he and his teammates face various opponents and grow more experienced. The story follows their efforts as they compete, raising questions about whether Hikaru will score a goal and which team will claim the championship.
