Nodame visits Chiaki's childhood home under unusual circumstances, where she meets his family and prepares dinner consisting of onigiri and nabe. Tensions within the household have escalated significantly following the death of Chiaki's grandfather, bringing the family dynamics close to a breaking point. The two individuals stay overnight at the residence. When Chiaki is awakened by a nightmare, he withdraws to the audio room associated with his grandfather. Nodame discovers him in the study listening to records after hearing opera music. She persuades him to accompany her on the violin while she plays the piano by ear, eager to perform together in this intimate setting.
