The pair interviews Inamura, discovering he is a knowledgeable connoisseur of Japanese and French cuisine who deeply loves his ailing wife. To test his resolve, Yamaoka hosts a club meeting at a Chinese restaurant and serves Fó tiào qiáng, a rich soup reputed to tempt even Buddha.
