Koyanagi rescues a woman and her child from drowning in the water. These individuals are identified as the wife and child of Matahachi of Shishidome, who had previously been arrested by Koyanagi. Frustrated by his inability to capture Monzaburo of Amabata, Koyanagi decides to release Matahachi and his family. In exchange for their freedom, he demands information regarding Monzaburo’s current whereabouts. This arrangement allows the family to reunite while providing Koyanagi with a potential lead on his elusive target.
