Momonga, an ordinary salaryman, serves as the guild leader in the DMMO-RPG Yggdrasil. After playing the game for twelve years, the servers are scheduled to shut down. He logs in one final time to witness the conclusion of the game. However, when the clock strikes midnight, the expected shutdown does not occur, and the game world remains unchanged. This unexpected event leaves Momonga trapped within the virtual reality he once played, facing a new reality where the game's mechanics and inhabitants persist despite the official end of service.
