Ash reaches the Violet City Gym to pursue his goal of collecting eight badges for the Johto League. He challenges the local Gym Leader, Falkner, but quickly finds that his opponent's Pokémon are superior to his own. Ash realizes that his typical strategy of brute force is ineffective against this challenge. To secure his first gym badge, he must abandon his usual approach and develop a new tactical plan to overcome Falkner's powerful team.
