Ash and his companions meet a hermit named Old Man Shuckle who creates natural remedies. Team Rocket consumes juice made from a wild Shuckle, an ingredient in one of Old Man Shuckle's remedies. This action disrupts the behavior of all Pokémon in the surrounding area, throwing their actions out of balance. The group must deal with the chaotic consequences caused by Team Rocket's interference with the local ecosystem and the hermit's products.
