Jessie, James, and Meowth discover their Team Rocket contracts have expired, removing them from the group. To pass a recruitment test, an elderly recruiter lends them a Delibird to attack Ash and his friends. Although the trio loses the battle, they are reinstated into Team Rocket. As a condition, the Delibird is assigned to follow them so they can pay off their debts gradually. Simultaneously, another Team Rocket member seeks revenge against Jessie. This sequence of events resolves their employment status while introducing a new financial obligation and a personal vendetta within the organization.
