A magician named Lily tries to cast a spell that requires Pikachu and a tear from an Aipom. Team Rocket steals her spell book and attempts to make the Aipom cry without using force. After the heroes defeat Team Rocket and retrieve the book, the spell is cast but fails. Instead of the intended effect, the magic backfires and transforms Ash into a Pikachu. This unexpected outcome leaves the group dealing with the consequences of the failed ritual while still needing the missing ingredient to complete the task properly.
