A boy who transforms into a girl when splashed with water, Ranma Saotome constantly deals with admirers pursuing him. One persistent admirer is Shampoo, a member of a Chinese Amazon tribe who, after being defeated by Ranma in battle, proposes marriage due to her clan’s customs. Shampoo later falls into a cursed spring and turns into a cat. Meanwhile, Mousse, who is in love with Shampoo, challenges Ranma to a duel over Ranma’s fiancée, Akane.
