Ep. 1: Villagers seek samurai to protect Kanna from the mechanized Nobuseri bandits

A past war between samurai and mechanized bandits called Nobuseri ended in uneasy peace after the samurai retreated. Now, the Nobuseri periodically raid farming villages, stealing food, supplies, and sometimes people. The peasants of Kanna village decide to hire samurai for protection. Kirara, a water priestess, her sister Komachi, and farmer Rikichi travel to the city to find warriors willing to fight for rice. They hope to secure help against the ongoing threat that has plagued their community.
