Kousei is shocked to hear a recording of his own piano playing while his friends listen. Kaori reveals she has already submitted his entry for a competition without consulting him, asking why he plays. This prompts Kousei to practice alone with the instrument. Meanwhile, Tsubaki feels excluded as she observes the growing closeness between Kousei and Kaori, realizing she cannot fully enter their musical world. During the final days of her junior high summer, Tsubaki injures her leg during a game, leading to a difficult loss for her team. Despite this devastating incident, Kousei is the one who comes to support her during her suffering.
