Annie requests a day off from her roommate at the Stohess District Military Police base, agreeing to locate the missing Carly Stratmann in exchange. She interviews Carly’s father, who owns the struggling Marleen Company, but suspects he is hiding details despite his apparent wealth. Annie tracks Carly to the Pit Riddles bar, where she is a regular with suspicious funds. After physically extracting information about Carly’s boyfriend, Kampfer Boltz, from patrons, Annie investigates his residence. She discovers a large quantity of the illicit drug Codeloine and a body hidden under the bed.
