Ep. 1: Taisei joins the Railway Club and pilots the Shinkalion at Shinkai Academy

Taisei transfers to Shinkai Academy to follow his sister Ina, who has been missing for two years. He meets teacher Kadomichi Takanawa and classmates Mai and Ryota. Classmates react to Ina’s fame as a system engineer, but Ryota supports Taisei’s belief that she is alive. Ryota introduces Taisei to the Railway Club, led by Mai with Takanawa as advisor. Taisei excels in a train simulator. An attack by the Unknown occurs at the bridge where Taisei watched the E5 Hayabusa as a child. Mai and Ryota reveal they belong to ERDA, using the club as cover. Since they cannot operate the vehicle, Taisei is asked to pilot the E5 Hayabusa, which transforms into the robot Shinkalion. Remembering his childhood goal to be cool, Taisei agrees to drive the Shinkalion.
