During the unstable period of the shogunate, when forces seek to weaken the shogun's rule in Edo-era Tokyo, Shirou Sumiya leads the "Way of the Paper Drawing" clan. This group uses swift brush strokes to reflect the turmoil of the time. Sumiya is called to Edo, where his students, possessing unique abilities in their hidden drawing methods, join the ensuing conflicts involving massive creatures brought to life through their art.
