Ep. 1: Kanata Sorami joins the army in Seize and searches for a stolen bell during a water festival.

Kanata Sorami enlists to become a bugler and is stationed in Seize, where a water-splashing festival is underway. Her superior, Rio Kazumiya, provides her with a bath and shares the legend of the Fire Maidens. When an owl steals a bell belonging to Rio's father, Rio prevents Kanata from falling off a balcony while attempting to retrieve it. During the festival, Kanata ventures to find the bell, spotting it on a ledge. She slips into the lake below, where she discovers the golden skeleton of a winged creature. Stranded at the bottom of a canyon, Kanata plays her bugle and is answered by Rio on her trumpet. Rio brings her to the Time Telling Fortress, plays the trumpet as the sun rises, and introduces herself as Kanata's bugling teacher.
