Sonic and his companions intervene to rescue a mysterious spacecraft that is being pursued by the Metarex. Upon saving the vessel, they discover that the pilot is actually Decoe, a robot assistant belonging to Eggman. Shortly after this rescue, the Metarex fleet launches an attack against Sonic's group. The situation escalates when the group witnesses a shocking development: Eggman and the Metarex have formed a joint alliance, combining their forces against Sonic and his friends in a coordinated assault.
