While the Blue Typhoon is boarded by Chris, Sonic and his companions encounter three Marmolians named Momo, Lue, and Lylem who are in possession of a Chaos Emerald. Rather than taking the gem, the group decides to escort the trio back to their home world, Marmolim. Upon arrival, the team discovers that the planet is suffering from a severe affliction that has encased its Planet Egg, leaving the inhabitants in a precarious state. This encounter shifts the focus from acquiring the Chaos Emerald to addressing the critical health crisis affecting the Marmolians and their world.
