In the year 20XX, fish have vanished from the world's oceans, leaving only whales. In response, the Ministry of Fishery launches a project to construct massive experimental fish tanks in space. The Onomichi Universe Fishery Union is formed in Onomichi, Hiroshima, to train a new generation of space fishermen. Due to new equal employment laws, female candidates are especially sought after. Six women are chosen to become space fishermen, and the narrative focuses on their development and progress.
