Ren remains determined to avoid traveling to Switzerland, though Haru questions his commitment. Mikiko informs Ren that Haruko might feel lonely after sending both her sons away. Meanwhile, Haru receives a photo of a potential bride from a client and conceals it from Ren. Ren spends more time with Haruko, which stresses Haru and leads him to test Ren's feelings. Ren attempts to return Tanuki to the landlord, Onodera, but the dog refuses to leave. Tanuki barks for the first time to show his attachment, prompting Ren to finally confess his true emotions to Haru.
