Niche brings the injured and dazed Lag back to the Bee Hive, where he gradually understands the fate of Gauche, the Marauders' fixation on stealing mail, and the true motives of the group behind both, Reverse. When Lag is prohibited from sharing what he has learned, he is pushed out of the controlled environment and back into the dark world. Reverse's plan to eliminate the Letter Bees and challenge the Amberground government gains speed. New threats emerge as the gaichuu insects evolve, potential traitors are suspected inside the Hive, and Niche's unfriendly sister arrives, escalating tensions into a major conflict.
