Following the capture of the enemy fortress, Team Dai-Gurren grieves the loss of Kamina, with Simon particularly affected. While exploring a cliffside, Simon observes an enemy Gunman discarding a capsule into a deep valley. He retrieves the object and successfully opens it using the same drill key required to pilot Lagann. Inside, he finds a young human girl named Nia. Their initial interaction is abruptly interrupted by the sudden appearance of another enemy Gunman, forcing an immediate confrontation. This encounter introduces a new character to the group while they remain in a state of mourning and high alert.
