Robot Pulse hypnotizes Dr. Ochanomizu to develop the Lucky Machine, a device capable of controlling the human brain. Following this creation, individuals manipulated by the machine's hypnotizing radio waves begin to ignore Atom. As a result, Atom finds himself completely isolated and alone, abandoned by those around him due to the external control exerted over their minds by the technology developed under duress.
