Maris is a refugee from a planet that no longer exists, with a father who drinks and a mother who is absent-minded. Her main issue is being a Thanatosian, a species six times stronger than typical Earthlings, in a galaxy where conflict is common. Despite wearing restraints made of exotic alloy, she unintentionally causes destruction, leading to ongoing debt. The Inter-Galactic Space Patrol assigns her various missions, but the costs of damages deducted from her pay only worsen her financial situation. When she is tasked with rescuing the wealthy and attractive Kogane Maru, she sees it as a chance to change her fortune. She believes his gratitude after being freed from a cruel captor will lead to marriage and finally relieve her financial burdens.
