Eleven-year-old Laura relocates to a new residence with her parents, canine companion Brandy, and hamster Hamtaro. Upon arrival, Hamtaro escapes his enclosure and ventures outdoors, where he encounters another hamster named Oxnard. The two descend underground and discover the home of a hamster called Boss. Later, they emerge to perform a song for a female hamster named Bijou. Following their dance routine, Hamtaro observes Bijou winking at him, indicating romantic interest. Concurrently, Laura walks through the city with her father and meets a girl named Kana, purchasing a journal during their outing.
