Daikichi balances his job and caretaking duties for Rin by visiting his parents' residence. While searching Souichi's house for information regarding Rin's mother, he discovers an unusual modem. Upon inquiry, Rin identifies a maid named Masako Yoshii, whose name appears in Rin's health booklet. That night, after Rin wets the bed, Daikichi recognizes her underlying fear of death and offers reassurance. The following day, Daikichi submits a request for a job transfer to better accommodate his schedule around Rin's needs.
