Ep. 21: Kirio visits Ushio for the scythe but they are interrupted by an attack from Kuragi.

Kirio visits Ushio to retrieve the scythe, but their meeting is interrupted when Kuragi, an insect-like yōkai and avatar of Hakumen no Mono, attacks the Kōhamei Sect headquarters. Shigure transports Ushio and Kirio to the scene, where Ushio encounters Mikado Hizaki. After Ushio fails to defeat Kuragi and falls, Mikado Hizaki freezes the monster using her powers, allowing Kirio to finish it off. Mikado Hizaki subsequently dies from exhaustion. Later, Kirio tells his mother that he defeated the monster alone and claims the Beast Spear is unnecessary. When she notes that no one believes him, she provides the red cloth from the Beast Spear, suggesting he break the weapon to prove his point if necessary.
