Jigoro interrupts an airport reception for IOC President Tamaranch, a close friend of the Honami family, to demand an open weight division for the Judo World Cup. Itou Fujiko discovers Yawara is the renowned judo genius and urges her to compete, but Yawara remains indifferent. Jigoro devises a scheme to secure the division change by allowing Shinnosuke to date his granddaughter, involving a match against the 120 kg Arakawa, a fifth-dan judoka and Honami security agent. When this plan fails, Jigoro feigns illness and has Saikai judokas locate Yawara. She subsequently throws a Saikai judoka in front of Tamaranch, demonstrating her strength and potentially influencing his decision regarding the open weight division.
