The widespread popularity of Digital Pets sparks a contest, prompting Honda to train Miho's pet so they can travel to Australia together. Concurrently, Yugi grows concerned for his friend Haiyama, who appears to be coerced into illicit activities by the bullying Kujirada. It is revealed that Haiyama has actually been controlling Kujirada by providing him with money. Yami Yugi initiates a Shadow Game with Haiyama centered around their Digital Pets and emerges victorious. As a consequence, Haiyama is subjected to a Penalty Game in which he is devoured by his own Digital Pet.
