Chancellor Sheppard requests Atticus assist in liberating Zane from a dark influence. Atticus agrees and duels Zane, deliberately channeling the dark powers he previously wielded as Nightshroud to counter Zane's darkness. This action reawakens Nightshroud within Atticus. However, Zane deploys his new Cyber Dark deck and defeats Nightshroud, successfully breaking the entity's hold on Atticus. Zane clarifies that he was not possessed by darkness as assumed, but rather adopted a new philosophy centered on showing no mercy. Following this revelation, Syrus vows to defeat his brother and help him regain his senses.
