Van leads his group through the dangerous Mount Iselina, where Irvine and Fiona become separated from the main party in the fog. Van shares the Shadow Monster legend with Moonbay before a creature appears, revealing itself as a Godos piloted by Rosa. Viola and Jarro target the colony in the mountain's center, luring Van into a gorge to ambush him. Van defeats Jarro’s Pteras pilot using a cliff-to-cliff jump maneuver, then teams with Rosa to subdue Viola. During a conversation, Van discovers that Viola is Rosa’s sister. He chooses to protect Viola’s secret and departs with his friends, leaving the conflict unresolved.
