A man named Hiroshi finds a damaged mobile phone and takes it to a store for repairs. When the item is sent back to his home, it arrives with a life-sized female figure attached, yet it remains a functioning phone. Hiroshi had hoped for a regular phone to show off to friends, but the contract includes a costly return fee, making it impossible to send it back. He begins to experience both the benefits and drawbacks of having a phone that comes with a human-like companion, whom he calls Eko.
