Ai to Noroi

Aiko Yamada endures a difficult existence marked by family abuse and religious fanaticism. Her mother physically harms her, her father assaults her, and her family clings to a rigid belief system. She is also part of the 'Sakakibara Generation,' a group of 1982-born children stigmatized by society as potential murderers. As Japan moves through the 1990s and media reports on violent crimes like the Boy A case, Aiko grows increasingly desperate for escape. The pressure of her circumstances and the expectations placed upon her lead her to question whether she will be forced into the role society has assigned.
