A man exhausted from his demanding job encounters an unusual experience while attending a traditional Japanese performance. During the show, he notices an actor with cat-like features, which leads to the revelation that the performer is a bakeneko, a mythical shape-shifting cat. The bakeneko then declares that the man will become its partner.
