Bokura no Shikisai
Our Colors·僕らの色彩
A sixteen-year-old boy named Sora Itoda lives in modern-day suburban Japan and perceives the world through synesthetic colors influenced by his emotions. He struggles to be open about his sexuality in a school and society that do not easily accept it. His close friend Nao, a girl assumed by others to be his girlfriend, is aware of his sexuality but supports him without pressuring him. Sora meets Mr. Amamiya, an openly gay man who owns a local coffee shop. The two develop a mentorship when Sora comes out to him and agrees to paint a mural for the shop. Mr. Amamiya offers guidance on navigating life as a gay man, though he has faced significant challenges in doing so. When someone from Mr. Amamiya’s past reappears, it highlights the complexity of living authentically in difficult circumstances.
