Choseikenki Mikazuchiden

The Legend of Mikazuchi·超聖剣記ミカズチ伝
Format: Manga
Volumes: 4
Status: Finished
Author: Chiaki Ogishima
A young man named Mikazuchi trains in swordsmanship on an isolated island, longing to see the outside world and meet women. He was raised alongside Honoka, who has complex emotions toward him. The island, safeguarded by divine gods, remains untouched by outsiders, with only minor conflicts between Mikazuchi and Honoka breaking the monotony. Their quiet life is disrupted when a mysterious woman named Saya washes ashore. The arrival coincides with the breaking of the Yaoyorozu gods' seal, unleashing monstrous creatures. Honoka’s parents are killed as they fail to defend against the demons, and the island’s holy sword, once a divine protector, loses its power and splits in two. Saya intervenes with her sacred abilities, saving them through a blessing given via a kiss, which produces a Western sword capable of defeating the monsters. Mikazuchi embarks on a perilous journey with the new weapon. Set in Japan’s Edo period, the narrative weaves myth and history into a tale of action and romance, driven by two swords—one divine, one holy.
