COM Kessakusen

A two-volume curated anthology, edited by Shohei Chujo, that highlights some of the finest contributions originally published in COM, the manga magazine launched by Osamu Tezuka. Along with the comic stories themselves, the books include excerpts from the Gura Kon manga academy, transcripts of roundtable discussions and essays written by prominent artists and critics. The first volume covers the period from 1967 to 1969 and features works by Fumiko Okada, Shinji Nagashima, Yuusuke Aoyagi, Hiroshi Asuna, Masako Yashiro, Housei Hasegawa, Tarou Higuchi, Kunio Nagatani, Hisashi Sakaguchi and Mori Masaki. The second volume gathers material from 1970 and 1971, with names such as Murasaki Yamada, Shouhei Kusunoki, Fujio Akatsuka, Shotaro Ishinomori, Osamu Tezuka, Minori Kimura, Manabu Oyama, Reiji Matsumoto, Daijiro Morohoshi, Kazuo Kamimura and Moto Hagio.
