In a world where vampires exist and pose a threat to humans, most have been kept in check, unable to roam during the night. However, a new type of vampire known as Hesperides has evolved to be active during dusk when sunlight is weakest. In a town untouched by vampire attacks for years, high school student Shiro Aburaya and his classmates dismiss adult warnings about dusk. When they venture out, they discover one of their own is a Hesperides. After his classmates are killed, Shiro survives with the aid of a classmate named Eruka Ichijoji, whose non-human nature becomes evident.
